Supplemental Health Coverage
What is Supplemental Health Coverage? Well, it is NOT a Medicare Supplement.
Supplemental Health Coverage is health-related insurance above and beyond your traditional Medicare insurance policie(s).
Supplemental Health Coverage includes the following, but is not limited to:
- Dental
- Routine Vision
- Cancer and Critical Illness
- Hospital Indemnity
- Short-Term Care
As an example, Aflac (I am affiliated with this company) is a company that sells supplemental health policies.
Take a look at the Retirement Insurance Solutions Pyramid™ below.
At the top, you will see Miscellaneous. Supplemental Health Coverage. Dental and Vision insurance policies fall within the Miscellaneous group. And that means, these policies should be the least of your worries or needs. And, many times, the premiums you pay for these could be better allocated towards a more important insurance need.
I am not saying that you should entirely discount these policies and products. It has been my experience that many people purchase these policies without giving a lot thought to what their true insurance needs are. And, sometimes these policies can just be a real waste of money
With that said, let’s take a look at these options and learn why you may or may not want to get one of them. Click the link for the appropriate policy:
